Medical Director
Dr. Katharine Heatwole joined Greenbrook TMS in July 2015 as the Medical Director of our Virginia Beach Center. She graduated from The College of William and Mary with a bachelor of science in chemistry. She subsequently attended medical school at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia. After completing an internship in internal medicine at EVMS, she completed her residency in neurology at Vanderbilt University in 1991 and was elected to be Chief Resident during her final year. Dr. Heatwole is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in the specialty of neurology. Dr. Heatwole is an active member of the American Academy of Neurology, Medical Society of Virginia, Virginia Neurological Society and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
Her passion for most of her career has been in the practice of general adult neurology. During the last decade Dr. Heatwole has become increasingly interested in the interconnections between mind and body and is now equally passionate about the psychiatric and psychological issues that not only impact the course of a patient’s neurological illnesses but their abilities or inabilities to live as full a life as possible. Dr. Heatwole’s interest in neuropsychiatry has further lead her to be trained in TMS.
