Coding and Education Specialist

Position Summary:
The Coding and Education Specialist position will be responsible for Coding, Auditing and Clinical Documentation Integrity and Improvement in accordance with all CMS and Commercial Regulations. Supporting a large Network across the US.
Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:
- Thorough research and review of each component of a patients “Episode of Care”
- Extracts relevant information from the patients entire Episode of Care
- Assigns CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM and ensure compliance with coding policy and guidelines
- Audits and extracts info from medical record and map to CMS guidelines
- Identifies documentation discrepancies, deficiencies, potential billing issues and education opportunities
- Escalates issues, trends, gaps, and needs and communicate with proposed solutions
- Researches CPT & HCPCS for specialty specific coding service opportunities to enhance revenue
- Works directly with regional locations and payers to build strong relationships
- Follows up with locations to assure they follow local, state, and federal billing guidelines
- Maintains positive relationships with appointed staff, dedicated regions, and Operational Leadership
- Participates in bi-weekly meetings or when applicable with RCM team to discuss location specific issues
- Completes ad-hoc department report(s)
- Adheres to and upholds all applicable federal and state compliance regulations, the GreenbrookTMS Code of Conduct, the GreenbrookTMS HR Manual, compliance policies and procedures, and applicable healthcare fraud, waste, and abuse laws
- Understands, complies with, and enforces all GreenbrookTMS policies, procedures, codes of conduct, and OSHA and HIPAA privacy rules
- Ensures adherence to all compliance standards among all GreenbrookTMS colleagues and staff, including those managed or overseen
- Performs other related duties, as assigned

- Escalate issues, trends, gaps, and needs daily.
- Assigning CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10, and ASA Codes.
- Ensuring compliance with medical coding policy and guidelines.
- Audit extracted info and map to CMS guidelines to identify documentation deficiencies.
- Identifying discrepancies, potential billing issues, and ensuring quality of care.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Certified Professional Coder, CPC – American Academy of Professional Coders, Currently Certified
- Certified Coding Specialist, CCS – American Health Information Management Assoc, Currently Certified
- Associate degree in healthcare or related field (preferred) but not required; may substitute degree for 2 years of related experience
- Minimum 3 years Multi-Specialty Coding and Auditing
- Minimum of 1-2 years multi-site, multi-regional coding, and education
- Psych, Mental & Behavioral Health coding a plus
- Intermediate computer and Office skills: specifically, Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
- AthenaNet experience strongly preferred and/or extensive history of EMR/EHR skills
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
