More about TMS therapy
What is TMS therapy?
TMS is an FDA-cleared, non-drug, non-invasive therapy for the treatment of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Using the same magnetic technology found in MRI machines, TMS therapy stimulates the areas of the brain responsible for mood. TMS provides depression symptom relief for about 83% of people who try it after antidepressants have proven ineffective.
How long is TMS therapy treatment?
TMS therapy treatment lasts six to nine weeks, with treatment in the first phase being five-days a week, then tapering off to only a couple days per week. Each TMS session takes 18-45 minutes while you remain seated in a comfortable chair at our private center. Treatment schedules and duration vary patient-to-patient and your Greenbrook provider will explain your recommended treatment plan during your evaluation.
Is there downtime after TMS?
No, you can leave immediately following a TMS session and resume your normal daily activities with zero downtime. Most patients report either no side effects at all, or some minor discomfort (such as a mild headache) after the first few TMS sessions.

More about Spravato® nasal esketamine treatment
What is Spravato®?
Spravato® is an FDA-approved nasal esketamine spray, a more specific form of ketamine designed to treat depression. Many major insurance companies cover this treatment.
What should I expect during a nasal esketamine treatment session?
Each session occurs at our private, spa-like Greenbrook Bel Air center. Once you arrive, you'll sit in a comfortable chair and self-administer the nasal spray under the supervision of our Care Team. You can expect to feel side effects such as mild sedation or disassociation during treatment. You will need to stay in our center for no less than two hours during treatment to be monitored by a healthcare professional who will be available to assist you. Ensure you have someone to help you get home, as you cannot operate a motor vehicle or other heavy machinery for the rest of the day.
How long is Spravato® treatment?
A typical round of Spravato® esketamine nasal spray treatment is broken up into three phases:
Phase 1: 2 treatments a week for four weeks
Phase 2: 1 treatment a week for four weeks
Phase 3: 1 treatment every 1-2 weeks for maintenance
At most Greenbrook centers, we try to book your Spravato® treatments to accommodate your schedule, whether morning or afternoon appointments work best for you.
